Failed Rose

Sacred Megalith
11" x 9" x 2.5" Four components from a translucent lenticular print recycled to fit inside and outside of a wood frame. An explanation of the creation of a lenticular print from the series timeXposure is included in the Process section. The woman in this book is Linda Serafin, photographed by Jan Doucette.

Moral Values
6.75'' x 4.5'' x .5” Painted clay covers, drumleaf binding, leather spine, collograph printed pages.

Vanity
7.5'' x 9.5'' x .25'' Altered “School and Family Primer”, open to Lesson X, that asks the questions, “Is she a vain girl? If she is vain, is she good?”. Includes hat pin, silver leaf, raised lettering and aged mirror.

Incendiary Devices
5 pieces approximately 6” x 6” x 4” each Spent firework shells, altered with tape, wax string and words printed to paper, wood, film.

Solar Cross
13.125'' x 13'' x .25'' Iconic images of circle, cross and square acrylic paste paintings on hotpress and vellum pages. Inkjet print over a collage constructed of gold moiré film, aluminum foil tape and silver leaf glued to precoated aluminum cover.

Las Mourtas de Juarez
14'' x 4.25'' x 2'' A wooden Santos with handwritten message on a strip of paper cut from old Bible and folded as a concertina. The message is related to the killing of women in Juarez, Mexico.

Little Red
6.5'' x 5'' x .25'' closed and 6.5” x 20” open Gustaf Dore etchings and Ellen Steiber poem in concertina format printed on Hahnemuehl fine art paper with printed canvas cover. Edition of 26.

Apologia
8'' x 5.75'' x .5'' Altered book based on the Roycroft book, “Respectability”. Collage, colored pencil and pastel with leather cover.

Empire
9'' x 4.25'' x 1'' Soldier paper dolls in a metal WWI map case with world map showing British Empire In 1921. The British Empire consisted of ¼ of the world’s population, and 14.2 million square miles, ¼ of the world’s area. With paper soldiers play “Empire” conquer territories, overthrow governments and exploit resources.

Climate Change
7.5'' x 5.75'' x 1.66'' Acrylic paste under-paintings with inkjet prints, drum leaf binding, and patinaed copper foil over wood with leather spine.
